Immediate Past President
William Brock, Jr., CFSP is the manager of Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff in Wyckoff, NJ. He has been actively involved in the association for over forty years. In 2010, Brock was the recipient of OGR’s highest honor, the Golden Light Award. This award recognizes an individual’s ongoing contributions to funeral service, to his or her community and to OGR. He is a Cum Laude graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service and has been a licensed funeral director since 1991.
Peter “Skip” Urban is president of the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home in Ambler, PA. He became a licensed funeral director in 1981. Skip is a member of the Ambler Rotary club and the Board of Trustees of Ambler Savings Bank. In 1975, he joined the Wissahickon Fire Company in Ambler and continues to serve as Fire Chief and firefighting officer. Skip is a member of the International Fire Chief’s Association and serves on the Standardization Committee of the Montgomery County Fire Chiefs Association.
Charles Castiglia is president of Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home in Hamburg, NY. He earned an AOS in Funeral Service from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, a BS in Business Management from Houghton College, and a MS in Strategic Leadership from Robert's Wesleyan College. Charles holds numerous certifications including Certified Funeral Service Professional, Certified Pre-planning Consultant, and Funeral Celebrant Certification.
Adam Miles Martin is the president of Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, MI. He attended the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Mott Community College in Flint, and Wayne State University in Detroit where he studied Mortuary Science. Adam is involved in his community outside the firm as well. He is president of the Greater Mt. Morris Chamber of Commerce, vice-president of Friends of the Mt. Morris Library, and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Morris.
Evan J. Strong is the founder and owner of Evan J. Strong Funeral Services in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Evan is a graduate of McMaster University and Humber College where he received his funeral service education. He is a member of Rotary International and the Knights of Columbus. Evan and his firm are active within the Calgary community in many charities and non-profit organizations.
John Vincent Scalia is thefounder of John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals in Staten Island, NY. He is a licensed funeral director in the states of NY, NJ, and PA and is a graduate of the American Academy of Funeral Services, the Dodge Institute of Mortuary Science, and the New York School of Insurance. John also founded New York Burial and Burial Center, Colonial-Pioneer Telephone Answering Service, National Anatomical Service, Bermuda Cremation Service, Family Florist, Historic Old Bermuda Inn, Family Limousine Service, Tradition and Trust Funeral Pre-Arrangement Program (co-founder), and American Anatomical Transport. John remains actively involved in many community service activities and is the recipient of numerous community service awards.
Richard O’Hara is the chief operating officer and co-owner of McAvoy O’Hara Company in San Francisco, CA. Founded in 1850, McAvoy O’Hara Company is the bay area’s oldest funeral company. Richard is a graduate of California College of Mortuary Science, Los Angeles and the University of San Francisco. He has been a licensed funeral director for over forty years. Richard is the past president of the Northern California Regional SIDS State Advisory Council.
Thomas L. Hemmerle is the owner of Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, KY. He earned a degree in Mortuary Science from Arapahoe Community College and has been a licensed funeral director since 1996 and a licensed embalmer since 2006. Hemmerle is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus, the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization.
