2007 Educational Seminars
How can I remain profitable in the face of rising costs of doing business? Can I find and maintain quality staff without breaking the bank? How do I maintain the value of funeral service to the community? If you are looking for answers to these and similar questions, plan to attend OGR's 2007 fall education seminar series, "Building a Better Funeral Home From the Inside Out."

"The Interior View"
Taking "The Interior View," the September 16-18 seminar at the Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina examined ways to improve your bottom line from within the walls of your funeral home. Attendees looked at best practices for:

  • Hiring staff, improving their efficiency and utilizing their skills effectively.
  • Setting prices, dealing with increasing costs and succession planning.
  • And, members participated in interactive roundtable discussions and an idea exchange - a favorite members-only feature - that offered opportunities to share successes, voice concerns and determine new ways to approach tough topics.

Comments from attendees included: "Keep up what just transpired to create this educational seminar. Very useful exchange of ideas." "The most relevant seminar I've attended with OGR." "Conference as a whole: best in years!" "I constantly like to learn and get that fulfilled while attending OGR meetings." " This is the best OGR meeting that I have attended. Excellent!"

"The Exterior View"
Taking "The Exterior View," November 4-7 at the Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, OGR will present new approaches to increasing profits by bringing families from outside the funeral home in. You'll gain insights on:

  • Successful marketing techniques.
  • Offering new and unique products.
  • Ways of introducing a profit center.
  • And, embracing cremation.

This "experience" seminar is a three half-day program will offer practical information while providing formal and informal opportunities to share ideas and successes. This program is the perfect combination of progressive learning and free time at a family-friendly location sure to delight every member of the family.
