Student Scholarships

Scholarships help alleviate financial concerns of students pursuing a degree in mortuary science. OGR is very supportive of our next generation of funeral home employees and owners by offering two scholarships to current students.

The Awards of Excellence provide three scholarships to students with strong academic performance as well as the strength of their essay, and funeral service experience that exemplifies a commitment to serving grieving families with compassion, fairness and dignity.

The Koven L. Brown Scholarship provides one scholarship of $1,000 to a student based on a combination of academic and professional merit and financial need. The scholarship is offered by OGR member, Koven Brown.

The Awards of Excellence application process begins in late summer each year with applications due in mid-October. Selections are made and announced in the first quarter of each year. The Brown Scholarship application process begins in mid-December each year and are due in early February. Selections are made and announced by the end of March each year.
