For Immediate Release

AUSTIN, TEXAS, MAY 10, 2016 – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is proud to announce that Martin Funeral, Cremation, & Tribute Services of Mount Morris, Michigan is the recipient of the 2016 Golden Rule Community Service Award. OGR is the world’s leading professional association dedicated to making independent funeral homes exceptional. The Golden Rule Community Service Award, now in its seventh year, is awarded in recognition of a funeral home’s outstanding community service as demonstrated by involvement benefiting local organizations or community events.

October is deemed “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month,” so Martin Funeral, Cremation, & Tribute Services dedicated that month to supporting all families who have suffered this type of loss in their community in Michigan. Since 2007, throughout the month of October, they offer three separate events to support not only the families they’ve served, but all families in the communities where their funeral homes are located. These events include:

1) An ongoing “Remembrance Candle Showcase”

2.) A local media and social media campaign designed to bring awareness to “Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month,” culminating in the candle lightning on October 15th, which is considered “Remembrance Day.”

3.) The annual hosting of the “Fly & Remember” event which offers activities for adults and children who have lost loved ones.

“These events are a fine example of a funeral home going beyond what is expected and contributing to the wellbeing of its surrounding community. Adam Martin and his staff are truly embracing the principle of doing unto others.” said Bill Brock, OGR’s outgoing president.
