AUSTIN, TEXAS, MAY 10, 2016 – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is proud to announce John M. Kreidler, owner of Kreidler Funeral Home, McAllen, Texas, as the winner of the 2016 Golden Light Award. OGR is the world’s leading professional association dedicated to making independent funeral homes exceptional. The Golden Light Award is the association’s highest honor, and it recognizes an individual who has made specific, meritorious contributions to society through his or her profession, community or field of voluntary service as career achievements.

OGR President Peter “Skip” Urban announced Kreidler as the award winner during the association’s Annual Conference and Supplier Showcase in Las Vegas, NV on April 30. John is a fourth-generation funeral director, and owns the first funeral home stablished in McAllen, TX.

Urban said, “John Kreidler is a servant leader, who demonstrates steadfastness in all he pursues. He is a man known for his perseverance, even in the midst of life’s challenges, whether they be personal or professional.”

His civic involvement has included serving as a committee member, board member, and chairman for the city of McAllen, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, McAllen Rotary Club, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Boy Scouts, American Heart Association, and the History Museum of South Texas. John has also served on OGR’s Board of Directors as well as several of its committees and as a Regional Chair. John and his wife Kay have three children.
