Making independent funeral homes exceptional
through quality continuing education

Continuing education of owners and staff is essential in maintaining an active and up-to-date independent funeral home. Through OGR's educational and networking programs, members keep up on the latest trends and technologies, find solutions to problems, and share experiences and best practices with fellow independents, while earning state-required CEUs.

Young Professionals Event – Fresh Approaches
Under 40? Come to Austin!
Fresh Approaches – OGR’s inaugural Young Professionals Event isn’t your daddy’s conference – think shorter sessions, lots of collaboration, and the chance to direct the dialogue. We’re throwing out the binders and heavy PowerPoint presentations and rolling up our sleeves to help you find answers to the challenges you face. Austin is known for being a town for entrepreneurs and innovators, so we’re bringing them in to participate. Earn continuing education credit, bond with other young funeral service professionals from around the country, and get a chance to see Austin, TX, the city everyone’s talking about, on February 28-29. Annual Conference & Supplier Showcase

Fall Forum - postponed for 2016
While Fall Forum has been canceled for 2016, OGR will still have a presence at NFDA’s International Convention and Expo in Philadelphia, PA on October 23-26. OGR will be hosting a big party to raise money for its charitable foundation and still give OGR members access to the expo. Go to Fall Foundation Event >>

Regional Workshops
Meetings at the local level
Regional Workshops are hosted by OGR members and put together by OGR staff. They provide an opportunity for members to come together at the local level for a low cost. These full-day meetings include 4-5 CE hours, lunch, and a place for members to share best practices and camaraderie. Stay tuned for 2016's schedule.  Go to Regional Workshops>>

Keeping your staff current

All attendees are eligible for one continuing education credit, in states where approved. Go to webinars >>

Mentoring Program
Knowledge sharing for the next generation
Regardless of how many years of experience a funeral professional has, he or she can always learn new ways to keep pace with rapid changes in funeral service. OGR’s Mentoring Program is now available to pair members experienced in business, finance, creative funeral arrangements, social media, embalming and funeral home innovation with those interested in learning more about these subjects (called Peers). Mentors and Peers are matched according to interests. Go to Mentoring Program >>
