2024-25 Committees
OGR has six standing committees, plus a temporary task force in addition to our association and foundation boards of directors. Each serves a vital role in determining OGR's direction, and the entire organization is grateful to the volunteers serving on each. Below is a brief description of what each group does, a list of the volunteers currently serving, and how you can get involved.

Directors serve two-year terms, with a maximum of three consecutive terms (six years total) before having to take time away from the board. | EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE |
| The Executive Committee is empowered to act on the Board's behalf between Board meetings as necessary, except for matters specifically delegated to the full Board under OGR's bylaws. The committee can also make policy decisions for OGR plus establish rules and procedures for the Board and association. Per OGR's bylaws, the committee is made up of the current President, President-elect, Secretary/Treasurer and Immediate Past President, who are elected by the Board of Directors from among its membership. |

| FINANCE COMMITTEE |
|
The Finance Committee is charged with oversight of OGR's investments, finances and annual audit. The committee reviews financial statements on a periodic basis to ensure the association's financial viability, reviews OGR's dues structure each year, reviews the staff's proposed budget before it is presented to the board, reviews and approves the selection of external auditors, and reviews and approves results of the annual financial audit.
The committee consists of the current President, President-elect, Secretary/Treasurer (who serves as Chair) plus two members in good standing. All members agree to serve a one-year term, from annual conference to annual conference.

| MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE |
The Membership Committee's primary purpose is to support and advise the membership department of OGR's professional staff on their recruitment strategy. They also develop and monitor a consistent membership retention program, maintain a consistent membership recruitment program, create and monitor positive membership reception at all meetings, monitor members' concerns and suggestions, and provide input for surveying the membership on a regular basis.
The committee is made up of 5-10 members in good standing. The chair is recommended by the staff liaison and approved by the President. All members commit to serving a one-year term from annual conference to annual conference. |

Members of the Professional Development Committee serve as key contributors to identifying and securing relevant speakers and content throughout the year from annual conference to webinars and more.
The committee is made up of 5-10 members in good standing. The chair is recommended by the staff liaison and approved by the President. All members commit to serving a one-year term from annual conference to annual conference and should expect to contribute an average of 2-3 hours per quarter. |

OGR's FL Committee oversees activities offering professional development to the association's young professionals.
There is no limit to the number of members who serve on the FL Committee, so long as they are members in good standing and under the age of 40 -OR- are members in good standing and not serving in an ownership role at their funeral home. |

| FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS |
The board of directors for OGR's charitable foundation approves all distributions from the foundation's funds, and promotes all fundraising efforts.
The board consists of 3 - 15 members in good standing of OGR, including the president-elect who receives an automatic appointment to the foundation's board as a voting member. OGR's president and executive director both serve as non-voting ex officio members. All terms are one year long. There is no term limit. |
