The one-night campaign was boosted by a $5,000 matching grant.

INDIANAPOLIS (April 30, 2021) – The Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is excited to announce it raised more than $10,000 for its charitable foundation at OGR’s inaugural virtual awards ceremony the evening of April 29.

Mike & Marie Butler and their children John and Nicki of Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hastings, Nebraska announced at the ceremony that they would match up to $5,000 in donations. By Friday morning, OGR had confirmed 13 donations or pledges for a total of $6,545 for a total of $11,545 including the match.

“We could not be more honored by the generosity of our members,” said OGR Executive Director Wendy King. “This money will go to support more scholarships for mortuary school students to help usher in the next generation into our profession.”

Donations are still being accepted as the Foundation has set a new goal to extend that total to $15,000 by May 31. All donors are recognized year-round on the foundation’s online Tribute Wall and in the next issue of The Independent®, OGR’s quarterly magazine.

The OGR Foundation was established to advance the standards of funeral service and contribute to the compassionate care of individuals in need.
